Drop off and Pick up times

Parents are required to drop off and pick up students as indicated on their registration form. We are unable to guarantee adjusting drop off and pick up times however, if provided with adequate notice we will always try out best to accommodate depending on space availability and staffing.

Gradual Entry

Please note, depending on the child’s age and transition into the program teachers will advise a gradual entry system for the first 2-3 weeks of enrollment. Gradual entry help children adjust, creates a sense of trust and prevents the children from a negative first experience at school. A gradual entry schedule will be shared with you prior to your first day.

School Closures

  • The school will be closed for all statutory holidays as well as Easter Monday, Boxing Day and September 30th National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

  • The school will be closed for one week from December 25th 2023- January 1st 2024 for Winter Break .

Behavioral Guidance Policy

We believe that parents and caregivers who take time to offer developmentally appropriate verbal explanations and guidance help children gain confidence, problem solving skills and many other tools contributing to their success. Children are to be treated with courtesy, kindness, respect, and patience while in our care. Activities within the program are monitored and adjusted accordingly to promote ongoing development of each unique child.

Our positive guidance strategies include:

  •  Establishing consistent and simple boundaries

  •  Stating limits in a positive way, giving children choices

  •  Keeping the focus on behaviour, rather than the child personally

  •  Stating what to expect, instead of posing questions to ensure children are not overwhelmed or confused

  • Providing realistic choices for young children

  • Setting realistic goals and age-appropriate expectations

  • Allowing sufficient time for children to respond to expectations

  • Reinforce appropriate behaviour with words and gestures

  • Encourage children to use the teacher as a resource when they cannot resolve issues on their own.

During moments of adversity or challenging behaviours teachers will approach the situation in a supportive developmentally appropriate manner.

We will:

  • Guide children toward making the correct choices

  •  Gain attention in a respectful way

  • Remind children of appropriate behaviour

  •  Listen to the child, acknowledge the child’s feelings

  • Redirect or direct appropriately

  • Teach children or take responsibility for their actions

  • Model problem solving skills

  • Offer appropriate choices

  • Support them as they learn to regulate their emotions and learn patience

  • Use natural consequences when it is safe

  • Provide opportunities for children to make amends rather than asking for a superficial apology

  • Encourage genuine opportunities for the children to restore relationships after an incident of hurt or harm

  • Restraining a child will only be necessary in life-threatening scenarios in which the child poses a life-threatening danger to themselves or the others.

We will not:

  • Withholding a child from basic necessities or care

  • Use threats

  • Shame children

  • Put a child in a harmful situation

  • Use physical discipline

  • Using fear as a motivator

  • Disrespect a child’s race, religion, ethnicity or culture

  • Act with anger or temper

  • Belittle children of make them feel guilty

Any serious and consistent concerns in behaviors will be documented and discussed with the family. Our goal is to work with parents or guardians to ensure that each child is receiving the care and attention that they deserve. If a family is not willing to work along side teachers in the best interest of the child, continued enrolment is not guaranteed without adequate support for the child’s wellbeing.

Parent Code of Conduct

Your child’s well-being is very important to us. If there is a concern about your child, we ask that you please contact your child’s teacher or the centre manager.
